Whether their area of expertise lies in marketing, publishing, or entrepreneurship, these individuals are perfect examples of digital virtuosos! Click below to read pt 2 of this blog series.
Being a new blogger, there was one aspect that troubled my mind the most: "Where should I start?" While I have had years of writing experiences (academic, editorial, creative, etc.) and tons of ideas that had been swirling around in my head for months, thinking of an initial topic did not come easily at 1st. Nevertheless, in seeing the name of my blog at the top of a blank page and thinking of the very essence of the word virtuoso, an epiphany was born: digital virtuosos. These are the people who are true virtuosos of the digital world—people who have fervently engulfed themselves into digital marketing, publishing, and entrepreneurship. These are the people who have deeply encouraged me. I introduce to you, in no particular order, 2 of 3 of my blogger inspirations...
2. Kenya Nails
I came in contact with Kenya when both she and I were working on our 1st magazines: meeting interviewees, planning and conducting interviews, attending events, etc. With Kenya having started hers before me, she knew information that I did not and I learned a lot from her.Although she had met/interviewed celebrities such as Monica, Diggy Simmons, Kim Burrell, PJ Morton, etc., Kenya was—and has remained—a humble person since the day I met her, while also being ambitious with her goals. I have found that sometimes when individuals are in the same/a similar business as you, they are not always willing to share information and strategies: with Kenya, however, that has never been an issue. I marvel at the fact that she has always had the ability to invent and re-invent her brand, while helping others along the way.
Now, you can catch Kenya displaying her digital publishing skills in her newest project: The LOOP (Live it; Own it; Obtain it; on Purpose). She announced a 5-City Launch Party for The LOOP Magazine earlier this year and it has been amazing thus far! Great speakers, panels, contests, games, and phenomenal entrepreneurs and innovators has made her launch party a success that will continue to inspire. With her adaptability to brand/re-brand herself and her exuberant spirit of generosity, Kenya’s passion for magazine publishing has made her a true digital virtuoso.
