"Ahhhhhguuuurrrr! Arrrauggggurrr!!!" No, these aren't typos; these are my attempts at typing what I hear whenever I watch zombie shows. And no, we're not living a real-life version of The Walking Dead (yet 👀...) but, with the rapidly spreading coronavirus, people have definitely been on their supply gathering & scavenging game, much like Rick and the gang. Nevertheless, unlike Rick and the gang, because there are no zombies to take out, people have been tormented by an entity that is more formidable than anyone could've ever expected: boredom.
Whether you are an introvert like me, or an extrovert who thrives off of the energy of others, it is no doubt that you have experienced boredom at least once during this time of social distancing. But not to worry! Here are 5 tips for slaying boredom, during (our version) of the zombie apocalypse...
If there is one thing that this whole situation has taught me, is just how much of a role social media plays in our lives. Now, more than ever, people of all ages are turning to it to gain information, encouragement, to stay connected, and of course, to laugh...in spite of uncertainties. Thus, here are some suggested ways to use social media to indulge in some good laughs.
-Browsing
Instagram and Facebook— when I need a good laugh, want to watch live videos, see new memes, or chat with friends from all over the world, these are my go to sites. While Instagram is my favorite of the two, you can find many pages you like on both platforms. Some of the IG and FB pages that have the most hilarious/entertaining content to me, are listed here:
KevOnStage: IG & FB
Chilli69palmer: IG & FB
TonyBakerComedy: IG & FB
Memes: IG & FB
My Many Memes: IG & FB
Tik Tok—If short, quirky videos, are your thing, then this app might be for you. While I have yet to become a fan of the app, there are hundreds of accounts that appeal to different people, so feel free to watch/create videos on the platform, that are to your liking.
-Viewing Lives/Going Live
Nevertheless, If you'd rather be entertained by feeling like you are in the same room with others, you can always go Live or join Live videos on both sites. You can go live by yourself and just talk to your viewers, or you can invite different friends on, so viewers can interact with you.

Angie Thomas & Nic Stone: IG / IG
-These two (friend duo aka, #Nangie) do Lives together about writing, their favorite things, etc. and they have individual IGTV book series about their books, and writing tips as well. Angie's series is called Finding Your Voice, based off of her new book writing journal (I'll talk more about this book later this week, it is amazing!); and Nic's series is First Chapter Friday, in which she reads the 1st chapter of each of her books. Be on the lookout for live videos from them starting tomorrow and also throughout this week.
-Video/Group Chat
If you're a more private person, use apps like Messenger, Google Duo, or WeChat to connect with friends all over the world. I saw this post on Blogher's IG about the number of people you can chat with on these apps, so have fun trying them all!
