A Starting Point: The New Voting Game-Changer

Credit: Google Images, footage from Avengers: Endgame Between the continuous spread of #TheRona and other current events that seem to darken our days,  i t is  such a refresher to see something positive in this chaotic world. Today, that positive refresher was personally delivered by our all-time favorite, patriotic hero:  Chris Evans.   While we are all used to this man showing off his love for America in his well-known MCU roles, Evans is doing his duty to country and state, in a unique and innovative way: by helping voters access vital information, regarding their electoral candidates.  This may sound simplistic, but Evan's new civic project " A Starting Point " is anything but. To those who attended the webinar launching of the site earlier today, you could easily tell how much work Evans, his friend actor Mark Kassen and entrepreneur Joe Kiani put into this project, and how difficult it initially was to bring it into fruition. The creation of this initiativ...

5 Ways to Slay Boredom During a Zombie Apocalypse (pt. 5)

We have made it to the last part of this series and honestly...I made this option the last one, because it really should be a  last  resort, considering it involves going outside. If you can, I would actually avoid this step and just partake in all the others — browsing social media, reading books, streaming videos, and creating something. Nevertheless, I know some people get stir crazy, are claustrophobic, need groceries, and there are some people who simply aren't going to stay inside...that being said, following these suggestions could help you slay boredom, but also stay safe, when it involves venturing outside.  5. Supply   Scouting (via Your Yard/Car)  Ok, so in this case, you aren’t scouting out abandoned towns for food before the zombies come out at night, but you are scouting out places to get a sense of peace, to get some alone time, or to get something that will help you to get through the rest of this quarantine-cation. A word of ...

5 Ways to Slay Boredom During a Zombie Apocalypse (pt. 4)

Alright good people, we are very close to the end of this series! Hopefully my previous lists have been helping with your boredom, or at least given you some clarity on who and what exactly "Rick and the gang" is. For this session, get your Michonne on, pull out a mini version of her katana sword, and get ready to cut up in the craft realm. While these ideas don't necessarily require all that, we can hold on to the dream that we too will look as awesome as Michonne, while we're at it  😎....   4.   Create Something Great   (via You) Because the notation of “creating” can be so vast, I have broken this section down into 2 parts (with sub-topics), that will hopefully lead you to the beginning of something great! Digital Content  If you have a business or even a hobby, you should definitely take this time to make a website, social media page, or even a podcast for it. Below are some of the benefits and differences of each. -Website : Sites s...

5 Ways to Slay Boredom During a Zombie Apocalypse (pt. 3)

Day 3 is here and boy do I have a treat for you all! And by treat, I don't mean Carol's semi-creepy gesture of providing "lots of cookies." But, you can always eat some sweets while partaking in this activity: watching tv or streaming! In this section, I will not only tell you where to watch, but also what to watch to slay some boredom ðŸ˜Ž.  3 .  Rona and Chill   (via Video/Streaming Content): Like #1, this option involves watching videos, however, this video watching includes tv shows and movies — not short social media vids. Below are sites that you can either pay to stream/watch videos, watch for free, or indulge in a little bit of both. They are labeled accordingly, so you're welcome!  Paid Content Netflix and Redbox — Netflix is subscription based, so If you don't already have it, this is just an fyi. Nevertheless, the great shows & movies you get, make for endless hours of not being bored: that's what I call winning. Many people don...

5 Ways to Slay Boredom During a Zombie Apocalypse (pt. 2)

*Note: all books/apps mentioned include teal hyperlinks* Welcome back to 5 Ways to Slay Boredom During a Zombie Apocalypse. I published this a little later than yesterday's post, because — no zombie apocalypse puns intended — I had to make an unexpected store run...was low on food supplies. Nevertheless, I bring you part 2 of this blog series. I n this section, I'll focus on one of my favorite and most enjoyable aspects of this list: books!  Yes, I know, I know...a lot of people have grown to loath books; either due to having to read them in school for a grade, having to read them for work, or just because they can never find ones they love enough to finish, all the way to the end. But fear not my trepid readers...like Rick Grimes did in  Season 9, Episode 3 of The Walking Dead (sorry...nerd moment ðŸ¤“), I'm about to rustle up some great books for you to check out. Just call me Papa Rick, cuz' I got your back!  2. Read a Book...ish   (via Books):...

5 Ways to Slay Boredom During a Zombie Apocalypse

"Ahhhhhguuuurrrr! Arrrauggggurrr!!!" No, these aren't typos; these are my attempts at typing what I hear whenever I watch zombie shows. And no, we're not living a real-life version of The Walking Dead (yet 👀...)  but, with the rapidly spreading coronavirus, people have definitely been on their supply gathering & scavenging game, much like Rick and the gang. Nevertheless, unlike Rick and the gang, because there are no zombies to take out, people have been tormented by an entity that is more formidable than anyone could've ever expected: boredom.  Whether you are an introvert like me, or an extrovert who thrives off of the energy of others, it is no doubt that you have experienced boredom at least once during this time of social distancing. But not to worry! Here are 5 tips for slaying boredom, during (our version) of the zombie apocalypse ... 1. Laugh a Little Lot (via Social Media):    If there is one thing that this whole situation has t...

Bilal Qizilbash: Virtuoso of Knowledge

As a writer, you start to get a knack for knowing when a story is going to be a good one; nevertheless,   there are times when a story comes along so captivating, that you realize you’ve underestimated just how great that story really is...this was the truth that I recently experienced when interviewing Bilal Qizilbash: award-winning scientist; community leader; business owner, and speaker, who has been featured in a plethora  of prominent mediums ( Forbes, Business Insider, Yahoo Finance, etc.). While Bilal is laden with many sought-after titles, one of the aspects most admirable about him, is that the title he desires to consistently hold...is being “a decent human being.” As it happens, upon hearing the sincerity and positivity of Bilal’s words and the auspicious future that he desires to build for his community, decent only scratches the surface of the virtuous human being that is...Bilal Qizilbash. _________________________________________________________...
